Hi, I’m Emma — the founder of The Holistic Hairstylist (and slightly chicken & tortoise mad woman).
I started this salon because, personally, I’ve never felt comfortable in traditional commercial salons. I’ve always disliked the pressure to make small talk, the sense of being judged, and even having to look at myself in the mirror. And I knew I wasn’t alone in feeling that way!
My Approach
As a neurodiverse woman, I wanted to create something different — a space that’s calm, private, and truly safe for anyone dealing with anxiety or sensory overwhelm. A place where there’s no pressure to perform, no judgment, and no expectations.

In the salon, I embrace a unique and compassionate approach tailored for neurodiverse and anxious clients. I have created a calm and private environment to ensure you feel comfortable and valued during your time with me.

Curly hair & curl specific cutting
Working with your natural texture
Working with curly hair is a little different. It needs to be approached with care, understanding, and respect for how each curl naturally wants to sit.
Over time, I’ve deepened my knowledge and training in curl-specific cutting and styling, allowing me to work more intuitively with natural texture.
I work exclusively with curl-friendly products when styling textured hair, supporting the health of both your hair and scalp while enhancing definition without heaviness or buildup.
Whether you’re just starting to embrace your natural texture or have worn your hair curly for years, appointments are tailored to meet you where you are. We’ll look at your curl pattern, your routine, and what feels realistic for you at home, so you leave not just with a haircut, but with a better understanding of your hair.

If you're not sure where to begin with your hair, or you have goals but need some guidance on how to achieve them, I offer dedicated one-to-one consultations designed just for you.
In a calm, pressure-free environment, we’ll chat about your hair history, lifestyle, and what you're hoping for — whether that’s a big transformation or simply finding a routine that works for you. You’ll get honest, professional advice tailored to your needs.
Consultations are £15 and fully redeemable against any future cut or colour service, so think of it as the first step in a journey we’ll take together.
All clients will be required to have patch tests every 6 months.

Instead of focusing on conversation, the priority is creating a calm, comfortable space while you have your hair done. You’ll never be expected to chat—I want you to experience your appointment in whatever way feels best for you.
A full consultation will still take place before we begin, with gentle check-ins throughout to make sure you’re feeling okay and everything is going as you’d like.

I know that for some, sitting in front of a mirror can feel uncomfortable, triggering, or just too much. If you'd rather not look at yourself during your appointment, that’s completely okay.
I offer mirrorless appointments where the mirror can be covered or turned away—whatever helps you feel more at ease. You’ll still receive the same care, attention, and beautiful results, just without the pressure of seeing your reflection throughout the service.
